Part 2
Questions 6-10
The people below all want to find a suitable weekend or evening event.
On the opposite page there are descriptions of eight events.
Decide which event would be the most suitable for each person.

6 Isaac is visiting his grandparents in a small town this weekend. He wants to take them somewhere local on Saturday afternoon where they can sit comfortably and listen to something. His grandmother uses a wheelchair, so the venue must be easy to access. He doesn’t mind paying for tickets in advance.

7 Zara has just finished her final exams and wants to celebrate with her friends on Friday night. She wants somewhere lively with music, but she also wants to eat. She and her friends are all eighteen, so the event must allow people their age. She would prefer to pay a single price that includes everything rather than buying things separately.

8 Kamil is a father of three young children. He wants a family activity for Sunday morning that will keep everyone busy for a couple of hours. He doesn’t want to spend a lot on tickets because buying for five people adds up quickly. The children like making things with their hands, and he would enjoy getting involved too.

9 Rosa is new to the area and wants to meet people in a calm, relaxed setting. She is free on Saturday evenings and would like an event that happens regularly, so she can become a familiar face. She enjoys listening to people tell stories and would like somewhere she can have a hot drink while she listens.

A. Story Night at the Book Café
Every Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., we invite local writers and storytellers to share short stories and personal tales. The café serves hot drinks, cakes and light snacks throughout the evening. Seating is around small tables, and the atmosphere is peaceful and friendly. Free entry; just buy a drink. Many regulars come alone, so you’ll feel welcome even if it’s your first time.
B. Family Craft Fair
This Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the town hall is hosting a hands-on craft fair. Children and adults can try pottery painting, candle making, and simple woodwork. Each activity costs between £1 and £3 per person, so you only pay for what you do. No need to book. The café on the ground floor sells affordable snacks and drinks.
C. Food and Jazz Evening
A special evening at The Riverside Restaurant. Your ticket includes a three-course meal and live jazz from a local band. Music plays throughout the night, and the dance floor is open after 10 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. this Friday. Tickets £35 per person. Please note: this event is for over-18s only. Booking strongly advised.
D. Town Orchestra Concert
The Town Orchestra presents a programme of classical and film music in the beautiful Victoria Hall. The performance lasts approximately 90 minutes with a short break. The hall has step-free access, reserved spaces for wheelchair users, and accessible toilets. Tickets £12, or £10 for senior citizens. Booking online is recommended. This Saturday’s performance starts at 2:30 p.m.
E. Trail Run and Breakfast
A guided 10-kilometre run through woodland and along the river path. The route is marked and suitable for regular runners. At the finish line, all participants receive a free hot breakfast and a drink in the village hall. The event is about 25 minutes by car from the city centre. £18 per person, including breakfast. The next run is this Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.
F. Lakeside Outdoor Cinema
On Friday evening at 8:30 p.m., watch a classic film on a large outdoor screen by the lake. Bring your own blanket or chair. Food vans will be on site selling burgers, pizza and ice cream. Tickets £10. Please note: this event is weather-dependent and may be cancelled if it rains. The ground is uneven in places and not suitable for wheelchairs.
G. Community Choir Taster Evening
Have you ever wanted to sing in a group? Join us on Friday at 6:30 p.m. for a relaxed taster session. No experience needed. We’ll learn a simple song together and perform it at the end. Tea and biscuits provided. Free of charge. The choir meets every Friday, and new members are always welcome. The venue is on the first floor with no lift.
H. Weekend Market and Street Food
Every Saturday and Sunday, the old market square comes alive with stalls selling handmade goods, fresh produce, and street food from around the world. Live music from local musicians throughout the afternoon. Free entry. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plenty of benches and tables. Very busy and noisy at peak times.
